Naruwan! Part 2
Finally had time to update my little blog. Has been working lately, even though it's quite a nice and slack job, lol, but that'll wait.
Ok, from the previous part, looks like i ended where we left kaohshiung city. We visited one of its attractions before heading for a theme park near taichung. Name's 春秋閣, or "spring autumn tower(s)", and i hope i'm correct on the translation, haha! Nothing much since the scenery was pretty much blanketed by a thick mist, but it's a tourist attraction to say the least, so i'll just upload a pic.
Next we head to 劍湖山世界, or Janfusun, as it is called in english. Judging from the name, it's a theme park of course. We didn't really warmed up before taking the intensive rides as my mum, surprisingly, was pretty eager to go on board the coaster with a vertical drop. It was SCARY, and they make you sort of suspend on the very top then hand you over to gravity just when you start to calm down. but it was fun, lol! then we went for the ferris wheel, the most significant and noticeable ride in the park, and also a launch freefall, which seems scary at first, but pales in comparison with the vertical coaster actually. here're a couple of pics. Sentosa should have more rides like these instead of some crappy observation tower. oh, and escape "theme park" is nowhere better!
and after a long day at janfusun, we went for dinner in taichung. it's the closest place to my home town during the whole tour, lol. i could have dropped down already, but i wanted make my money worth! anyway, we had dinner in this very unique restaurant. the entire building was built from drifted wood, and it has this very special atmosphere. artistic and classy at best. the food also rocks! maybe it's because we're all famished, haha, but their milk cakes are the best!! it's soft, like machi (麻薯), but not that sticky, and it has a very very pleasant milky taste! oh, and taiwan produces one of the best milk! master's and farmhouse taste no better than plain water when you've drunk one of the top milk in taiwan, lol! here're the pics of taichung city, which really looks like any typical street in taiwan, and also the interior of the restaurant with a very nice ambience :)
After spending the night at tc, we went straight up back to taipei. visited the home of one of the taiwanese presidents, which has nothing more than flowers, really. no big deal though, when compared to those from my hometown, lol! the tourist destination we went this time was 淡水漁人碼頭, or "freshwater mermaid jetty". it was darn cold that day! the wind actually chills to the bones, no kiddin! but since they said 情人橋, or "couple's bridge", kinda helps, i survived all odds and went on top of it! lol, no la, just dun wanna waste my chance of sight-seeing, despite the winds.
i'll end today's entry at taipei. there're still a couple more days left in that city, and another entry will close up my whole tour. the entry after that would cover either misc stuffs or my hometown! good chance to let my friends know more about taiwan and try to psych them into touring with us *prepares pendulum*. lol! that'll be all

celebrated theng's birthday yesterday night. have to thank him for having a party like that, cos my ego just went right off the scale, lol!! thanx for everyone who praised about my appearance XD so paiseh! and theng sure has the influence in our group to affect our dress sense, HA!
gotta thank theng again for such a wonderful party. for details pls refer to his blog or those from the rest of the gang. hopefully they're updated.

Naruwan! Part 1
ok, kenneth once asked me what naruwan stands for, and during the whole duration of my trip to Taiwan i can tell you one thing, i have no idea! the closest meaning i could come up with is "welcome to", since many of the ads from the tourism board begins with "Naruwan! Welcome to Taiwan!". but it'll be stupid for them to include "welcome to" twice, don't you think? but heck!!
and now, part 1 *drum rolls* mainly about the tour i took around the island. popular tourism attractions that you should be visiting if you're hopping on to one of those taiwan tours. so...let it start, shall we?
this is chiu fen, or nine parts if directly translated from chinese. viewtiful little town, with fantastic scenery. was covered in mist when we got there, roxy! sells the famous yam balls -- not exactly balls, just chunks of squishy yam. shuiling's favourite, lol! i ain't quite bothered about it, cos i could get those from almost any part of taiwan. they don't really taste THAT fantastic, but for those who's never been there, i suggest you order a bowl of it. here's another pic showing one of the streets.
leaving the county of keelung and we ended up at the very healthy county of Hualien by train, and by healthy i mean the fruits arefresh and the air is the least polluted in the entire island. nice scenery, though nothing spectacular compared to my own town (NOT singapore, mind you). here's a photo of a typical taiwanese fruit stall, and also one that shows the majesty and beauty of taiwan's mountain. it's shot when i was on the bus, thanx to my super-steady hands :) or maybe my super-steady camera? no matter. kind of a boring county, in my opinion. you'll wanna visit it when you wanna purchase some jade, sightsee, or just wanna have a taste of fresh mountainous air with a tint of cow dung odour from a nearby farm.
then we traveled down windy mountain paths and ended up at the kaohsiung county. it's one of the warmer counties due to lower latitude, and also the 2nd populous city of taiwan. i have to say, i like ks city a hell lot more than taipei, cos taipei is so chaotic! districts are nicely planned out and parks are very very nicely decorated so that ks appears a lot more vibrant than tp. here's a couple of pics of ks city. the blue glowing building sells stuffs like baleno, giordano, S&K, etc, which are considered pretty hip in taiwan, surprisingly. i realise taiwanese seldom go for brands, more for the total feel and look. you can see them wearing very jap-like, very fashionably, but they don't necessarily wear nike shoes, you know what i mean. and if they do go for the brands, you should see how runway models pale in comparison, lol! some of them have tremendous spending power, or maybe loaning power, since a lot are in deep sh*t as they buy LV & prada without considering the size of their wallet. ah well, the next pic is the park i was talking about. nice ambience, and they even have a mini open bar where this very good singer entertains couples alike with his amazing voice. and that's my mum in the picture, lol

hey look, what's this? my blog!
nearly forgot its existence, lol!!
anyway, nothing much to update except for my taiwan trip. will be adding them in future entries, and will most probably come in several episodes.
that's all for today. still slacking at home, waiting for my online job applications to respond. waiting for teck whye primary to contact me. waiting for things to happen. damn...for once in my life i'd started to dislike rotting on my couch, haha!
