today i went for the accountancy hi-tea, and i'm quite surprised that i have the longest hair amongst all the guys. it made me really look out of place, lol
it started with a talk/presentation by one of the profs, some Yeo or Teo guy. He said he was in charge of the intake every year, and this year, despite being the Dragon year, he reduced the intake to 600++ from 700++ last year. Then the magical sentences "This shows we are especially strict this year...", "Most of you here have 3 As..." and "We take in the best of the cohort..."
"BS" was all i could think of. i could have raised up my hand and said "hello? and why's a guy with a D sitting here in this LT?" maybe they DO look at the outer beauty, after all, haha!
and then he went off to say Economics is compulsory for those who didn't get A. looks like i'll have a hard time tackling that
then the tea session buffet, which is basically leftover fried popiahs and curry puffs from the nearby cafeteria, i presume. and i realised the girls out-ratio the guys by a factor of 4:1, or maybe higher. pretty surprising cos that will mean engine courses will have guys outnumbering the girls with approx that ratio. i knew engineering was lame, ha!
finally, the bus tour around NTU campus. Nothing spectacular, except the very very haunted-looking hall 5...good god i so don't wanna end up in there! it looks so worn down that they should have a police post nearby for all those serial rapes and murders going on in that building.
and that's that. i should have stayed at home...

"Owing to the large number of applications this year, we have been very selective. You are one of those whom we believe will benefit from the unique NTU education ..."
i HAD to write this down, LOL! nearly died when i read this line. i have to applaud NTU's efficiency. It's only mid-april.
anyways, i'll be seeing most of you there :)

Jolin's Singapore Concert yay, i've finally managed to overcome my wretched laziness and upload what seem to be 2+ weeks old, hah. at least there's something...
oh, before i begin, let me tell u my camera ain't as powerful for taking zoom shots. it's just a point-and-shoot, give it a break, haha. i still love it though, mainly becos it's a sony and i spent a bomb on it. if u want clearer/crispier pics, pls get them from wee theng. i have to admit canon does make good digicams, haha
here's one i've shot. not close up, but the clearest i can get with max zoom. yea, go on, laugh at the image quality. i would say if not becos of the lighting and my inadequate skills, the images should have turned out nicer.
here's a cheat shot...meaning i shot the big screen instead, haha!! but it's so much better, zzz. and i must say, she's doing a pretty good job with her impressive "massaging skills.
Tell me this isn't an "A", tell me it isn't!! this sooooo copy ayumi la!! com'on taiwanese singers, have some creativity! and the next photo, military style...it somehow resembles of ayu's dome tour...
yea, energy...uploaded for fanfare purposes for miss goh. if you want, i've got a couple of short clips of their already half-dismantled band, hahahah!!
lastly, we have a short video of one of her songs. it's the best i can get, so no complaints.
that's all. i must say the first concert i've attended isn't anywhere near mind-blowing. felt kinda short though.

ok, looks like dust (virtual ones) has been collecting on this blog. sigh...
just a quick update. my job is getting really really tedious. not physically though (i still do more sitting than standing), but rather more psychologically. the kids are unique at the centre, so normal school discipline can't work there. wait, let me put it this way, it can work, but we simply can't use it. it makes the centre look more like a after-school care centre than for aiding recovery of mentally-ill kids.
i've been facing with increasingly retarded (pardon me for using such a strong word in this context, but what difference is there if i wrote intellectually challenged?) and spoilt kids. you read correct, spoilt. they complain what they don't want/can't do and start throwing their temper around. sometimes it can be so frustrating that i should really feel their neck with my fingers wrapped around them. and what the perm staffs do is compromise those brats, then push the responsibilities to us before giving us the you're-not-doing-your-job stare. oh com'on, i'm an activity supervisor! not a nanny/counselor! they're the social workers and psychologists, not me!
i'm feeling so damn stressed out right now...perhaps that explains why they were acting a bit wary and all when they employed us temps. after all these, i've started to lose my sympathy for them. call me heartless, but to me, their problems could have been overcome by themselves. no amount of medication is gonna help if they continue to act like pampered kids. all those lessons and recovery sessions...i wonder how much get into their brains when all they do is head for the computer when the lessons get boring. sometimes they just don't appreciate all the help people are giving them.
ok, enough ranting. that felt good though, letting some out. not once have i ever yearned for school to start :[

sigh..today one of the youths managed to get hold of my wallet due to my carelessness, and my place of birth got revealed. of all the shy kids it HAS to be the one with the biggest mouth..zz.. now i'd had to answer questions like "so which part of taiwan were you from?" all over again.. and you know it's such a pain to explain when most peops out there only know Taipei, Kaoh Siung and at most Tai Chung. and i thought "uh...somewhere near Tai Chung" would satisfy your curiosity, but hell no! it goes on and on..."tell me la, maybe i know"...oh com'on, you don't...
anyway, ranting aside, one of my colleagues caught wind of this and asked me which of my parents is taiwanese. she then made a comment about me being a "mixed blood", lol
i'd be happier if my dad was an American or my mum was a Japanese
