suddenly felt like writing this.
top 10 things i'd rather be drowned in: (not according to preferences)
1) Milk. my all time favorite beverage. i'm especially fond of taiwan's milk. no seriously, taiwan has the richest and most flavourful milk i've tasted. new zealand, australia, malaysia, thailand, singapore...all these fresh milk pales in comparison. and taiwan also has a very wide array of milk flavours. Malt (my fave besides fresh milk), your usual chocolate, fruits, and even apple (it tastes terrific, IMO). but strangely...i've yet to see strawberry, lol. oh, and btw, it has to be FULL CREAM. i hate low fat/skimmed milk, but for my health and weight, i'd had to stick to them. so everytime i'm back to tw, i'll gulp down so much milk i would have drowned if not because of limited funding, haha
2) Miso soup. super nice! initially i hated the taste, but after a while it has this drug-like effect. no stoppin' here!
3) Tomato juice. roxy stuff. same with miso soup, i was at first shunned by it, but after a while i just keep coming back. now u know why vampires are extinct. why go for some metallic taste blood which is so hard to get their fangs on when all they need to do is go to the grocery/super market and grab a can of nice, rich, flavourful tomato goodness, ha!
4) Papaya milkshake. the first milkshake flavour i've tasted, and coincidentally also the one i like most. love at first sip, anyone? again, try a cup from taiwan. absolutely heavenly! even the Tetra Pak ones are godly.
5) Avocado milkshake (with honey). yea yea, i noe, avocado is fattening, blah blah. but who cares when it comes to good food? i actually come into contact with this in singapore, and guess where? surprise surprise, in the stinky canteen of Tuas Naval Base. that uncle sells delicious milkshakes, including pretty good papaya milkshakes. but the avocado one is totally pawning! avocado richness, the taste of honey with strips of grass jelly for some added texture...it tastes so much like chendol, but it's not!
6) Cream of mushroom/Clam chowder. the reason i put 2 together is because both are from the same company...zzz...and also both are those thick thick kinda soup. not much to say. garlic bread is so incomplete without a serving of either of these.
7) Bird's Nest (from concentrate). I'm not very fond of solidified and then rehydrated spit of some cave-dwelling bird, but the artificial flavouring found in those concentrates are so attractive i never get tired of them, ever. so save some of those birds. there are pple who go for the fake stuffs. Winter Melon Tea made from its concentrate has also similar effect.
8) Shark's Fin Soup. i've gotta say this - i'm proud to be a chinese. the guy who found out the retarded fins of a dead shark to be rather palatable is a total genius! but it's a delicacy to be feasted upon once in a while. save the sharks, but not their fins :[ we should have artificial limbs for them, or genetically modify sharks to grown 50 fins which they only dwell on 2 legs.
9) Yam-flavoured Milk Tea. another brilliant invention. i dunno how the yam got in there, but it sure added a very smooth and rich flavour into that tea. i always fantasize that this would be the top recommended drink i'll have if i manage to open a cafe.
10) Dihydrogen Oxide. imagine you've just completed route march under the hot sun, and there's this glistering bottle of extremely clear, extremely chilled mineral water right in your bunk. the feeling of this cold liquid running down your dry throat is one of the best feeling you'll get. and without this, there won't be any of the above.
that's all for my lame entry today. there are still some which didn't made it into the top 10, like Tom Yam Soup, Passion Fruit Blended Ice, etc. but if i do come across them, they'll still be consumed heartily without much biasness. damn i sure feel thirsty after writing this much, lol!
